Budapest at night from Gellert Hill.

Budapest is Buda + Pest (Unification: November 17, 1783), two cities on opposite sides of the Danube, West and East respectively. The views from the heights of Buda between the Chain Bridge and the Elizabeth Bridge to the North are comprehensive of Buda to the West and to spectacular of Pest across the Danube to the East.

My tour left Budva, Montegegro, in the early evening of August 9, 2012.  The sun sets making a blazing streak across Budva Bay. We say good bye to the Pennisula of St. Stephen and travel North. We cross Serbia in the night, and in the morning we cross the Serbian border into Hungary. There are pics of our tour at the border, and then driving Budapest.

The countryside is beautiful, we get stuck in a traffic jam due to some kind of an "emergency", and then enter Budapest in the afternoon.   We go to our hotel, the Hotel Polus, same as we used going south to overnight going from Vienna to Belgrade. There is a small mall, a Home Depot, and a McDonald's (with a red airplane) all adjacent to the hotel as are seen in the photographs below.

I used public transportation (tram, bus) to go downtown and get pictures at night time. I have tried to put enough captions below to walk the viewer through (and remind myself through the years) of the names of what is being viewed. I hope that you will enjoy my pictures taken during the day, from Parliament to a tour of Buda Mountain through a visit to the square where the Palace of Art and the Museum of Fine Arts are located next to a large City Park.   In this Park is a statue of GEORGE WASHINGTON, and busts of RONALD REAGAN and Winston Churchill.
